This week, DBDH welcomed a delegation of 19 Polish district heating companies to Denmark for a three-day programme of workshops, knowledge sharing, and site visits.
The delegation included utility leaders and decision makers with a strong interest in Danish technologies and solutions for decarbonising and modernising district heating in Poland. The visit created valuable opportunities for direct dialogue between Danish companies and key Polish stakeholders involved in upcoming district heating investments.
Focus on key technologies for decarbonisation
The programme began in Albertslund, where Danish companies presented technologies and solutions for improving energy efficiency, integrating renewable energy, and lowering temperatures in district heating systems. The workshops provided a strong framework for dialogue and demonstrated the value of practical knowledge sharing across borders.
Throughout the visit, the programme focused on key themes including decarbonisation and renewable energy, digitalisation and system optimisation, power-to-heat and surplus heat, as well as waste-to-energy and heat pumps.
Site visits showcased Danish district heating in practice
During the following days, the delegation visited a number of Danish utilities, including Albertslund Fjernvarme, Sorø Fjernvarme, TVIS, Egtved, Billund, Kredsløb, and Aalborg Forsyning. These visits offered valuable insight into Danish approaches to the green transition, sector integration, and modern heat supply, while giving Polish participants first-hand exposure to solutions already being implemented in practice.
Direct dialogue created new opportunities for cooperation
The visit also gave Danish companies the opportunity to present and showcase their solutions and to engage directly with Polish district heating decision makers. The programme was coordinated by DBDH in cooperation with the Danish Embassy in Warsaw and the Polish District Heating Association (IGCP).
Thank you to all participating utilities and companies
DBDH would like to thank all Danish utilities and companies involved for welcoming the delegation and generously sharing their time, knowledge, and experience. Their openness and commitment were key to the success of the visit and helped strengthen cooperation between Denmark and Poland on the future of district heating.
We look forward to continuing this collaboration and building on the strong momentum created during the visit.
