Meet the UK district heating market
The UK heat network market is entering an important phase of development – creating new opportunities for Danish district heating companies.
Join DBDH for a two-day export promotion to the UK, where we will bring Danish expertise directly to British energy companies, cities and other key stakeholders working with concrete heat network projects.
The visit goes beyond general market introductions. Through a combination of presentations, targeted meetings, and workshops, participating Danish companies will have the opportunity to discuss real projects, challenges, and solutions directly with UK decision-makers and project developers.
The program is developed by DBDH in close cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark in London.
Why the UK – and why now?
District heating currently supplies only a small share of UK heat demand, but the market is changing rapidly.
Heat Network Zoning, new regulatory frameworks and major public and private investments are accelerating the development of heat networks across the country. At the same time, cities, utilities and developers are looking for proven solutions and experience that can help them develop efficient, reliable and consumer-focused heat networks.
This creates a strong match with Danish experience.
The UK stakeholders are particularly interested in areas such as:
- Heat network planning and development
- Digitalisation and optimisation
- Low-temperature district heating
- Integration and selection of heat sources
- Consumer protection and customer relations
- Governance and operation of heat networks
Tentative program
Day 1 – Liverpool (TBC)
The visit is expected to start with a half-day conference bringing together Danish companies, energy companies, cities and relevant UK stakeholders.
British participants will present current market developments, regulation and heat network projects, while the Danish delegation will have the opportunity to introduce Danish solutions, technologies and experience.
The conference will be followed by targeted meetings and workshops with local energy companies and municipalities, focusing on concrete project challenges and opportunities for cooperation.
Day 2 – Bristol (TBC)
The second day is planned around targeted workshops and meetings with energy companies, city representatives and heat network planners in Bristol.
The agenda will be developed together with the local hosts and based on their current projects and priorities. The aim is to create an open, technical dialogue where Danish companies can demonstrate how their expertise and solutions can contribute to the development of UK heat networks.
OBS: Liverpool and Bristol are currently the intended destinations. The final program and locations will be confirmed based on the availability and relevance of UK hosts.
What will participating companies gain?
The export promotion offers Danish companies an opportunity to:
Meet relevant UK decision-makers and potential customers
Build direct relationships with cities, utilities, developers and other organisations involved in heat network development.
Get closer to concrete projects
Understand where projects are heading, what challenges UK stakeholders are facing and where Danish technologies and know-how can make a difference.
Present your solution in the right context
Rather than a traditional sales presentation, the workshops create a setting to discuss solutions in relation to real UK needs and projects.
Strengthen your position in a growing market
DBDH and the Danish Energy Agency have worked in the UK for many years and have built strong relationships with authorities, cities and organisations interested in Danish district heating experience.
Who should join?
The visit is relevant for Danish companies offering technologies, services and expertise across the district heating value chain – from planning, consultancy and engineering to components, digital solutions, heat production, distribution and operation. Both companies active in the UK and companies looking to enter the market are welcome.
