DBDH and the Trade Council in DACH hosted a joint Danish stand at HEAT EXPO 2025 in Dortmund on 25–27 November.
The German heating sector gathered for three intensive exhibition days, and the Danish presence targeted exactly the groups driving Germany’s heat transition: municipal utilities, energy suppliers, engineering companies and cities.
The 80 m² Danish stand gathered 14 companies and representatives from Danish utilities. The goal was simple: present concrete Danish experience on heat planning, digital tools, network optimisation and renewable heat. The strong visitor flow showed how quickly demand for these competencies is increasing in Germany.
Four technical workshop sessions
A continuous workshop programme at the stand highlighted Danish best practices, based on the workshop programme for the Danish stand during the three days:
- Heat system planning – Pragmatic planning approaches, avoiding over-engineering, and transforming existing systems rather than starting from scratch.
- Digitalisation – How digital data, smart meters and monitoring reduce temperatures, enable heat pumps and free up staff resources.
- Network optimisation – The network as the system’s largest asset, and how predictive maintenance and lower temperatures extend lifetime and cut costs.
- Renewable heat production – Replacing natural gas through geothermal, biomass and industrial-scale heat pumps in flexible, multi-source systems.
Each session was designed as a dialogue, drawing on Danish implementation experience and German utility perspectives.
A clear signal from the market
HEAT EXPO confirmed that Danish district heating competencies are highly relevant in Germany’s rapid rollout of municipal heat planning, network upgrades, and low-temperature operation. The Danish stand provided a platform for direct technical discussions, new partnerships and concrete follow-up opportunities.
DBDH will continue supporting members in Germany and strengthening the joint Danish district heating brand across the market.
