BRUGG Pipes has introduced CALPEX ULTRA, a flexible, pre-insulated pipe system designed for both local and district heating networks as well as sanitary and drinking water applications.
| PRESS RELEASE | 18.05.2026 |Â
By combining several applications in one system, CALPEX ULTRA can help reduce the number of product variants needed in a project. This may simplify planning, procurement, storage and installation for engineers, planners and installers.
The system combines pressure resistance, thermal insulation and oxygen diffusion protection, supporting efficient operation in modern heating and drinking water infrastructure.
Developed for modern heating networks
CALPEX ULTRA has been developed to meet the technical requirements of today’s heating networks. With an SDR 11 wall thickness and a PN10 pressure rating, the pipe system is suitable for applications with longer pipe runs, changes in elevation or varying operating conditions.
An integrated aluminium diffusion barrier helps prevent oxygen from entering the medium, contributing to system reliability and long service life.
High thermal performance
A key feature of CALPEX ULTRA is its PUR insulation, with a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.0199 W/mK at 50°C.
This insulation performance helps reduce heat losses in the network and can contribute to lower operating costs over time. By limiting energy losses, the system supports the development of efficient heating and drinking water infrastructure with long-term performance requirements.
Approved for drinking water applications
CALPEX ULTRA is approved for drinking water applications. This makes it possible to use the same system for both heating and sanitary pipework, reducing the need for separate systems and additional interfaces.
Three system variants
The PE-Xa pipe system is available in three versions:
- UNO – one medium pipe
- DUO – two medium pipes of the same size
- QUADRIGA – four medium pipes
With dimensions up to Ø63 mm, CALPEX ULTRA covers a well-established application range within local and district heating. In sanitary applications, the optimized wall thickness can allow higher volume flows within the same external pipe dimensions.
Simplified planning and installation
By combining heating and sanitary applications in one system, CALPEX ULTRA can help reduce the number of product variants needed in a project. This may simplify planning, procurement, storage and installation for engineers, planners and installers.
Standard system components, including bends, T-pieces and fittings, support safe and efficient installation.
CALPEX ULTRA combines robust pipe construction, strong insulation performance and high pressure capacity for use in heating networks and infrastructure projects with long-term efficiency requirements.
