SUMMARY:INTREPIDH | DH reaching out to Process Industry | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Read more in the INTREPIDH catalog. \n\n\n\nUsually\, DH companies talk to the industrial sector about reusing waste heat\, but more and more are considering supplying process heat to industry. Surprisingly\, the industry often needs energy in the form of heat and at temperatures that can be supplied from DH\, either directly og in combination with temperature-boosted. This is surely worth a conversation. \n\n\n\nDistrict heating infrastructure can facilitate the reuse of industrial waste heat and supply process heat to other locations. We discuss how to engage with the processing industry\, establish strong collaborations\, and develop effective business models. \n\n\n\n\nThe DH infrastructure in the Strasbourg port supplies the industry with recovered heat\n\nMaxime Augst\, R-CUA\n\n\n\n\n\nDanish DH company reached out to the local industry to deliver process heat\n\nSøren Berg Lorenzen\, TVIS\n\n\n\n\n\nTailoring agreements between industry and district heating – some inspiration\n\nMichael Lassen Schmidt\, Niras\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSIGN UP HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor further information\, please contact:

SUMMARY:USA | University of California visits DK | Study Tour
DESCRIPTION:High-level delegation from the University of California (UC) to study Danish District Heating.\n\n\n\nDBDH and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs host a strategic visit focused on the green transition of energy infrastructure. The visit will explore how large campus energy systems can transition from traditional steam-based infrastructure to low-temperature hot water networks. \n\n\n\nFrom 18–21 May\, DBDH\, in cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs\, will welcome a high-level delegation from the University of California (UC) to Denmark. The delegation will study Denmark’s world-leading district heating sector and gain knowledge and inspiration from Danish district heating solutions\, which are internationally recognised as a key tool in the green transition. \n\n\n\nOne of the world’s largest university systems\n\n\n\nThe University of California is a public university system in California and is considered one of the largest and most prestigious in the world. In 2025\, UC had around 299\,000 students across 11 campuses\, including approximately 236\,000 undergraduates and 63\,000 graduate and PhD students. Around 150\,000 students live on campus. \n\n\n\nMajor investments in energy modernisation\n\n\n\nThe delegation’s visit comes at a strategically important time\, as UC is facing major investments of USD 6–10 billion in the modernisation and transition of its energy infrastructure. In this context\, the Danish district heating sector is particularly relevant as an international reference point for energy-efficient\, scalable\, and climate-friendly heat supply. \n\n\n\nSharing Danish experience and building cooperation\n\n\n\nThe program in Denmark will give the delegation direct insight into Denmark’s experience in planning\, operating\, and developing district heating. It will also create a basis for dialogue on future cooperation between Danish stakeholders and the Californian university system. \n\n\n\nThe delegation is expected to include campus utility leaders\, engineers\, sustainability teams\, and decision-makers from across the UC system. Through workshops\, site visits\, and technical discussions\, the program will focus on practical solutions that can support the decarbonization of U.S. university campuses while maintaining reliability in live operating environments. \n\n\n\nWhy this visit matters\n\n\n\nMany large U.S. campuses operate aging central steam networks and are now facing a critical transition point. Infrastructure renewal must be aligned with ambitious decarbonization targets\, long-term capital planning\, and operational reliability. \n\n\n\nDenmark offers relevant experience in this field. Danish utilities and campuses have worked for decades on low-temperature district heating\, large-scale heat pumps\, thermal energy storage\, surplus-heat integration\, and long-term system planning. These experiences are highly relevant for universities seeking proven approaches to phased steam-to-hot-water conversion. \n\n\n\nProgram highlights\n\n\n\n\nExecutive workshop at DBDH on the Danish energy system context\, governance models\, and steam-to-hot-water conversion cases\n\n\n\nUtility case and site visit in Frederiksberg focusing on heat pumps and low-temperature network implementation\n\n\n\nCampus site visit at DTU in Lyngby with focus on campus-owned energy infrastructure and operational experience\n\n\n\nFull-day technical visits covering large electric heat pumps\, thermal energy storage\, surplus heat integration\, and digital optimization\n\n\n\nImplementation workshop on financing\, phasing\, governance\, and next steps for U.S. campus programs\n\n\n\n\nWho is this relevant for?\n\n\n\nThis visit is relevant for professionals working with district heating and cooling\, campus and portfolio energy systems\, and large-scale decarbonization programs\, including: \n\n\n\n\nUtility executives\, planners\, and operations teams\n\n\n\nEnergy engineers and project managers\n\n\n\nSustainability and climate strategy leads\n\n\n\nTechnology providers working with heat pumps\, storage\, controls\, and heat recovery\n\n\n\nResearchers and practitioners focused on thermal decarbonization\n\n\n\n\nPractical information\n\n\n\n\nArrival on 19 May 2026 | Program activities take place from 20–21 May 2026\n\n\n\nLocation: Copenhagen and selected Danish utility and campus sites\n\n\n\nHosted by: DBDH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark\, together with utilities and campuses\n\n\n\nRegistration: Contact Lars Hummelmose at lh@dbdh.dk or +45 2990 0080\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that the detailed program and site visits may be adjusted as final confirmations are received.

SUMMARY:Ukraine | DH visit to Denmark | Study Tour
DESCRIPTION:From 17–19 March 2026\, Denmark will host a Ukrainian delegation of district heating decision-makers as part of an official study tour focused on modernization\, green transition\, and long-term recovery of Ukraine’s heat supply systems.\n\n\n\nThe delegation visit is organized by the DBDH in cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy in Ukraine and will bring together 16 key representatives from Ukrainian municipalities and district heating utilities. \n\n\n\nA sector under pressure – and at a turning point\n\n\n\nUkraine’s district heating sector is among the largest in Europe\, serving more than 100 cities and supplying heat to over 100\,000 buildings. Before the full-scale invasion\, more than 70% of heat production relied on natural gas\, creating structural dependence on imports and exposure to price volatility.Since 2022\, the war has caused severe damage to boiler houses\, CHP plants\, and distribution networks. Utilities have been forced to operate in emergency recovery mode\, focusing on restoring heat supply under extremely challenging conditions. At the same time\, the need for modernization has become urgent and unavoidable. \n\n\n\nYet the crisis has also created a historic opportunity. \n\n\n\nBillions of euros in international financing have been mobilized for Ukraine’s recovery through EU mechanisms and international financial institutions\, including the EIB\, EBRD\, NEFCO\, EIFO\, and IFDK. Recently\, the Danish export credit fund EIFO announced an additional Ukraine facility\, allocating DKK 1.5 billion in 2026\, with the possibility of a grant component of up to 40% for public projects. \n\n\n\nUkrainian municipalities are now actively preparing strategically grounded\, replicable district heating projects to reduce fossil fuel dependence and accelerate the transition to renewable energy. \n\n\n\nProgram overview\n\n\n\nOn 17 March\, the program opens with a thematic seminar and B2B workshop focusing on the most relevant modernization topics. Ukrainian representatives will present their development plans and outline specific areas for cooperation with Danish companies. From 18–19 March\, the delegation will participate in site visits to Danish district heating facilities covering. The visit provides a unique platform for direct dialogue\, knowledge exchange\, and partnership building between Ukrainian cities and Danish technology providers. \n\n\n\nPositioning for long-term reconstruction\n\n\n\nUkraine’s reconstruction and modernization of its district heating systems will span many years. Early engagement with municipalities now preparing investment-ready projects is essential for companies seeking to position themselves in this growing market.Denmark is internationally recognized for its integrated and efficient district heating systems. By connecting Ukrainian recovery ambitions with Danish expertise\, the visit aims to foster long-term cooperation that supports both sustainable energy transition and economic partnership. \n\n\n\nFor more information\n\n\n\nPlease contact Lesia Logvynenko\, Project Lead at DBDH. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe participation fee will be informed upon request. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#districtheating #rebuildukraine
