The Netherlands | Delegation Visit | Study Tour

October 6 October 7

Locations: Tilburg, Eindhoven, ’s-Hertogenbosch & Maastricht (southern Netherlands)
Audience: Danish companies offering district heating solutions, technologies, and expertise

Overview

Registration is now open for DBDH’s two-day delegation to the Netherlands. The Dutch government aims to expand district heating from 7% of households today to one-third by 2050 – around 2.6 million new connections. A new District Heating Act, inspired by Danish legislation, is expected to take effect in January 2026, creating a strong window of opportunity for Danish suppliers to engage with municipalities and utilities seeking sustainable heat solutions.

Why Attend

  • Present Danish solutions and system expertise to Dutch municipalities and utilities
  • Build partnerships and market presence ahead of the 2026 legislative shift
  • Exchange knowledge on planning, investment, and operation of new DH systems
  • Support the Netherlands’ green heat transition with proven Danish know-how

Program Overview (6–7 October)

Workshops, site visits, and networking across four cities in the southern Netherlands:

  • Tilburg – Dialogue with Warmtebedrijf Tilburg BV, newly established and planning major grid developments
  • Eindhoven – Visit to Eindhoven Energie BV, a start-up municipal heat company navigating early-stage challenges
  • ’s-Hertogenbosch – Hosted by Enpuls
  • Maastricht – Workshop with the municipality, preparing new heating grids in both new and existing urban areas

Each location features a workshop with local stakeholders, offering Danish participants the opportunity to present solutions and engage in targeted discussions. We are also working to bring in additional nearby municipalities to one of the workshops. A detailed itinerary and recommended travel options will be provided upon registration.

Pre-departure webinar

Ahead of the visit, join a briefing with Jessica Appelmann (Danish Embassy, The Hague) and representatives from the host organisations for a concise market overview and insights on the cities we’ll visit.
