Denmark | UK Delegation Visit | Study Tour

January 29 January 30

DBDH and the Danish Embassy in London are co-organising a UK study tour to Denmark. A delegation will visit Denmark to study sector integration, low-temperature DH, multiple heat sources, digitalization and much more. The tour will take the delegation to several DH companies and municipalities in and around Copenhagen.

This time we invite up to 30 persons from municipalities, people responsible for heating at universities, housing associations etc (e.g. L&Q, Clarion Housing), and not least from the commercial energy companies (e.g. Bring Energy, Vital Energi, 1Energy, SSE, E.ON, and Gren Group). Participating Danish companies are welcome to suggest others and we will invite them as well.

Market development in the UK

The British government expect the UK DH market to develop from 13 TWh in 2020 to nearly TWh 100 in 2050. Please take a look at this report from DESNZ – UK Heat Networks Market Overview (publishing.service.gov.uk). We want Danish companies to be a part of this growth. A few more details from the report.

HEAT NETWORKS UK 20202050
Estimated market share of heat networks*Less than 3 %20 %
Estimated Supplied TWh12.9 TWh95 TWh
Estimated CO2 savings1.4 mio. tonnes15 mio. tonnes

*) 20% is (roughly calculated) 3,5 times the length of network in Denmark today. Massive!

The visit to Denmark

The delegation visit to Denmark is an export promotion event and will last 2 full days starting in the morning January 30th and end in the afternoon January 31st. We will visit DH companies, conduct thematic workshops and have amble opportunities to network. The participating Danish companies are invited to take part in the entire program.

The detailed plan is not final. Below you see the overall program:

Day 1

Day 2

  • Visit to Høje Taastrup DH Company, site visit to large storage and heat pump installation
  • Visit to Albertslund DH Company
  • Thematic workshops with input from Danish companies and UK participants.
  • The program will be further developed in cooperation with Rasmus at the Danish Embassy in London.
We plan an intro-webinar a few weeks before the event to introduce the program and introduce DH in Denmark.
