August 31, 2023 – September 2, 2023
DBDH will again this year try to gather a group of DK based companies to join the 2nd Asia Urban Energy Assembly – the 31 August – 1 September in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 2nd edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will be held as a 2-day international conference the 31 August and 1 September at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event is co-located with ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week, one of ASEAN’s largest and most comprehensive International Exhibition and Conferences on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Technology.
In 2022, ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week had more than 20.000 visitors from 52 countries, which makes it one of the best meeting platforms in the region to get updates on market developments, technologies, financing and project opportunities, and much more.
Most major economies in the Asia-Pacific region have set net-zero GHG emission targets by mid-century, and national governments are working to update energy and climate policies to achieve this. This year’s edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly is themed “Supporting the Energy Transition in the Asia-Pacific” and aims to present, discuss and explore solutions that can help to speed up the energy transition and help countries reach their climate targets.
Luckily, the world’s Renewable Energy resources are vast, and Southeast Asia alone has 17.2 TW of Renewable Energy resources available. For example, using only 1% of available Solar PV resources in Thailand would cover the country’s total power production capacity of 49 GW.
Another important topic is the worlds growing cooling demand. Today, space cooling stands for 10% of the world’s GHG emissions, and with increased temperatures due to global warming and population and economic growth in the hottest part of the world, the cooling demand is expected to triple by 2050, leading to equivalent increased energy demand if no action is taken.
The majority of the growing cooling demand comes from Asia, which is why cooling is sometimes called the elephant in the waiting room, referring to its importance in the energy transition and meeting climate targets.
The 2nd edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will focus on how the public and private sectors can contribute to the Energy Transition by applying technology and solutions that exist today to increase energy efficiency and integrate more renewable energy into our society.
The event will include the latest outlook status of the Energy Transition, explore how more Renewable energy can be integrated into our cities, and how District Energy systems can be one tool in the toolbox to reach climate targets in the Asia Pacific region. The expected audience includes energy professionals from the public and private sectors, including utilities, government officials, policymakers, utilities, developers, consultants, investors, international organizations, universities, and more.
