DBDH BRINGS DANISH DH EXPERTISE TO UKRAINE WITH 290+ PARTICIPANTS ONBOARD!

As Ukraine rebuilds its energy infrastructure amidst immense challenges, DBDH (Danish Board of District Heating) is stepping up its support with a strong and growing commitment to helping Ukrainian cities develop modern, efficient, and resilient district heating systems.

With a record-breaking turnout of over 290 Ukrainian participants at our recent webinar on smart investment decisions in district heating, DBDH has reached a significant milestone in our collaboration efforts. Organized in partnership with the Covenant of Mayors–East and the EIFO Green Accelerator project, the webinar brought together Ukrainian municipal leaders and district heating companies to explore life-cycle cost-based investments and long-term sustainability in energy infrastructure.

Danish experts shared best practices on:

  • Lifecycle-based investment strategies (Lars Gullev, Gullev DH Advisory)
  • Long-term performance of biomass boilers (Jesper Stræde, Linka Energy)
  • Pumping efficiency and operational savings (Niklas Lindblom, DESMI)
  • High-quality piping for future-proof networks (Robert Hecl Hetzl, LOGSTOR)
  • Financing options for strategic DH investments (Peder Larsen, EIFO)

This webinar forms part of DBDH’s broader engagement with Ukraine, including a high-level delegation visit in March 2025, where Denmark and Ukraine strengthened their cooperation on green district heating. The visit included ministerial-level talks and site visits that laid the groundwork for ongoing technical and financial collaboration between the two countries.

Next up, DBDH, together with Danish companies, will participate in the ReBuild Ukraine Conference and Exhibition in Warsaw (November 13-14, 2025). This event will showcase innovative Danish district heating technologies and solutions, further supporting Ukraine’s green energy transition. DBDH will host a pavilion featuring top Danish companies and organize a dedicated session to share practical approaches to rebuilding smarter, more sustainable district heating systems.

“DBDH is proud to be a trusted partner for Ukraine in the journey toward resilient and sustainable district heating. In our activities engage Danish companies in rebuilding a sustainable district heating infrastructure in Ukraine. The strong participation we see from Ukrainian cities demonstrates both a genuine need and a profound commitment to long-term, intelligent energy investments,” says Lars Hummelmose, Managing Director of DBDH.
