On June 11-13, the Ukrainian District Heating delegation was on a study tour to Denmark. With the Danish Embassy in Ukraine, DBDH had the pleasure of hosting representatives from city councils and district heating companies from 10 Ukrainian cities rebuilding their district heating infrastructure.

The Danish district heating experience, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and resilience, can provide valuable insights and strategies for Ukrainian cities’ rebuilding efforts.

Thus, the tour started with the District Heating Seminar, where the Danish experts presented the best practices for green transition, long-term project planning, LTDH, and project financing available in Ukraine.

Today, 90% of the heat in Ukrainian district heating systems is produced from gas, and the overall energy consumption for district heating needs is 45 GWh. Most of the heat generation infrastructure was destroyed by Russian missiles. The Ukrainian state’s commitment to a green rebuilding initiative and building back better presents significant opportunities for cooperation. The Danish companies Danfoss, Desmi, Grundfos, Linka, Kamstrup, Ramboll, Broen, and Logstor, which took part in the delegation visit, support the reconstruction projects in Ukraine.
